Since its beginnings, Métal Perreault has pursued a clear vision: to deliver reliable, durable structural steel and miscellaneous metal solutions for increasingly ambitious projects.
Over the years, the company has built its reputation on the quality of its work, the diligence of its team and its ability to tackle complex challenges. What began as a business driven by a passion for the trade has grown into a recognized partner across Canada and the United States.
Despite its growth, Métal Perreault has remained true to the values that have shaped its journey: a job well done, close relationships with its clients and a commitment to every project.
1987
In October, Mr. Gérald Perreault opens a welding shop in Saint-Marc-des-Carrières, in a 1,575 sq. ft. building.
1992
From its modest beginnings, the company grows steadily thanks to its expertise, diligence and drive to innovate in its field. With its order book growing rapidly, the company triples its floor space in less than five years, expanding to nearly 5,000 sq. ft.

1996
In July, Métal Perreault relocates to the Donnacona industrial park. The move increases the company’s floor space to more than 18,200 sq. ft. Métal Perreault makes significant investments totalling $850,000 and now employs 15 people. Additional employees are hired starting in September.
1997
Ten years to the day after its founding, Métal Perreault acquires Métal Chalifour of Saint-Marc-des-Carrières and transfers all equipment and operations to its new Donnacona plant.

Early 2000s
By the early 2000s, Métal Perreault is clearly gaining momentum. The company is growing rapidly. In 2001, the floor space expands from 18,200 sq. ft. to 51,000 sq. ft., requiring a $4 million investment in new equipment, including two new CNC machines: a Drill Line and an Angle Master.
Métal Perreault then signs its first major contracts in the U.S. market, including the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., the National Air and Space Museum in Virginia, and the Performing Arts Center in Miami, Florida.
2005 to 2010
This period brings further major investments, including the acquisition of a high-definition plasma plate cutting and punching table. Métal Perreault also becomes a fabricator certified by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), a certification representing a recognized quality standard. During this period, the company implements a computerized barcode system. This technology provides real-time tracking at every stage of production, from cutting to shipping.
2010 to 2015
After securing several new contracts, Métal Perreault needs to hire additional skilled employees. In 2012, the company takes part in a trade mission to Europe, where it recruits eight new employees. In 2013, further investments are needed to acquire equipment. The company invests $1 million in a new Drill Line and a pipe bender, as well as the construction of a paint storage building and a compressor shelter. This new equipment and these facilities improve the company’s production efficiency.
2016
The year 2016 marks a turning point in Métal Perreault’s history: Simon Harnois and Charles Carré acquire the company in March. Mr. Harnois, who had worked at Métal Perreault since 2004 and had held shares since 2008, and Charles Carré, who previously worked in Trois-Rivières, seize the opportunity to grow an already well-established company.
2017
Métal Perreault expands its U.S. presence by launching L&D Steel USA, a sister company based in Florida.
2018
Key employees Nicolas Leclerc and Richard Daneault become shareholders, strengthening Métal Perreault’s management team and long-term vision. That same year, the company makes significant capital investments, including a plant expansion and the acquisition of robotic production equipment. These improvements increase annual production capacity from 8,000 to 12,000 tonnes, supporting the company’s continued growth and its ability to take on larger, more complex projects.
2021 – 2022
In response to the labour shortage and to support its growth objectives, the company welcomes 30 new skilled workers from the Philippines through immigration programs.

2023
Métal Perreault has 110 employees and maintains an annual steel fabrication capacity of 12,000 tonnes, reinforcing its position as an industry leader.
2024
Métal Perreault invests in a new, state-of-the-art cutting table to replace older equipment. This upgrade improves cutting precision, production efficiency and overall fabrication quality. The investment reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to modernizing its facilities and maintaining high performance standards throughout its operations.
